Katto: Rising Tides is a 3D platformer game, in which I worked in for 10 months as Game and Level Designer.
It is my final career project, made by a group of 17 Game Development students, specialized in Art, Programming or Design.
Together with my partner Antoni, we were responsible for the entire game's design. From the player's mechanics, to the level design and distribution of its different elements, the behavior of enemies or the operation of different types of platforms, among other game aspects.
From the very begining, up to the release day, our goal was to create the funniest game we could, and we wanted it to feel as good as possible. To achieve that goals, we thoroughly analyzed our main references, and identified what made them work as good as they did. Thanks to that analysis, we came up with an interesting Game Concept, that later became the full detailed Game Design Document of the game.
Once the GDD was finished, we started with the level blockouts. In my case, I was responsible of making the two last levels of the game: the Temple and the Boss Room. As the time passed, and thanks to the received feedback from our teammates, producers, and the people who tested the game, our work improved each day.
I'm proud of to have worked in this game. It came out 4th of July of 2024, and two months after, it already has more than 70 possitive reviews. I'm glad to see that all my work and efforts to make the game as good as possible have paid off.
